Macropropagation in Banana: Response to Hormone and Genome in Sucker Production

Banana (Musa spp.) is the most important fruit crop of world. The production banana propagules for different scales its cultivation by local farmers still an researchable issue as micropropagation only available source plantlets production. An experiment on macro-propagation belonging to three genomic groups (AAA, AAB, ABB) was conducted at Department Plant Physiology, BCKV Mohanpur, West Bengal study induction sucker through application BAP @40 ppm. substrate used planting corms were a mixture sawdust + Trichoderma @ 15 g kg-1 vermicompost sawdust. Observations recorded weight corm, days appearance first primary suckers, number secondary tertiary suckers and total suckers. induced ranged between 1.67 in Dwarf Cavendish (AAA) 5.33 Lacaton (AAA), while 0.67 Srimanti 22.00 Manohar (AAB). observed composition AAB with 4.00 both genotypes Madhurangbale respectively. Days bud varies from 7.33 29.33 Basrai (AAA). corm also varied 5.56 kg 2.06 Kothia (ABB).
